Victory onion(mountain garlic) is a perennial plant of the lily family, growing in the mountain of cold regions such as Hokkaido and Northeast area.
¡ß 20 ~ 30cm high ¡ß It is said that an old monk tried this plant for meditation in the mountain but its tonic effect rather disturbed the monk's ascetic practice. It has many different names- Quitobiro, Hitobiro, Yamabiru and Ainupa. ¡ß It has a strong smell and spice similar to garlic. It is cultivated in Hokkaido and other areas, and traded in the market at a high price for its rarity-it takes five to seven years to be fully grown. ¡ß The harvest season is from April to May ¡ß 34kcal per 100g |
